2011 Summer Intern at The Beck Cafe/Beck Center for the Arts!!

I am SO excited for this summer because I am staying in Ohio to take a few classes, work, and to gain experience in the field of Public Relations! I had an interview yesterday morning at The Beck Cafe in Lakewood, Ohio and I thought that the interview could not have gone any better. The Beck Cafe is located within The Beck Center for the Arts and it is beautiful. There is artwork on the walls placed at eye level and higher, there is a waterfall behind the counter where coffee and tea is served, and the wheelchair ramp is a fish tank. Yes, a fish tank is underneath the wheelchair ramp!

As a summer intern for The Beck Center, I will be updating the facebook page, keeping up with their Twitter page, serving coffee, selling artwork, and assisting with music promotions. I am SO excited!!! I start on Monday morning at 7:30am and usually I do not see the world until after 8:30am but I will adjust to the time change.

Portable Pickles!!

Over Easter weekend, I traveled to Keuka Park, New York which is a very small town full of college students, wine lovers, and Amish men, women, and children. I was in Keuka Park because I was visiting my sister at Keuka College where she is a Senior art major. On Easter Sunday, we went to the grocery store which was very small and very expensive. As we were going up and down the aisles, we put Italian bread, noodles, and chicken in our cart because. It was when we were almost done with our shopping when I saw it. We were in the pickle aisle. Yes. The pickle aisle. An aisle just for pickles.

Mt. Olive makes sweet relish, mild banana pepper rings, kosher dill, kosher dill spears. All of these pickle products are expected, however I found PORTABLE PICKLES in the pickle aisle!!

Mt. Olive Sweet Petites, or most commonly known as "Portable Pickles," come in a 4 pack and fit perfectly in any lunch box. Picture a small, plastic, applesauce container. Take the applesauce out of the container and replace it with Sweet Petite pickles.

Thank you for making it through this blog post!

Jaw Dropping Commercial

I just witnessed a Klondike Bar commercial that made me say, "WHAT!?" This commercial included a couple sitting on a couch in their living room. The beginning of the commercial stated, "What would Mark do for a Klondike Bar?" and the commercial went on to showing the husband trying very hard to listen to his wife talk about her problems. The husband only had to listen for 5 seconds and once the time was up there was a celebration and he got his Klondike Bar.

I could not find the video on YouTube; however, I found a similar video of a man doing dishes for a Klondike Bar.

Raisins: Part 2

So today I told my roommate, Jacalyn Rimkus, that if you put a raisin in warm milk it will turn back into a plump grape. Naturally, we just had to heat up some milk in a Beatles coffee mug and drop a raisin in there for a while to prove if it can happen or not. Our experiment was very unsuccessful because the raisin looked exactly as it did before; except it was extremely wet and smelled like we left a bowl of raisin bran cereal out for a few hours. Yeah, disgusting.

Do not try this at home unless you enjoy practicing failed experiments.

Raisins.

When I went to Marc's last week I had purchased Nature's Snack Mix made by Kings delicious. The ingrediants listed were raisins, peanuts, banana chips, almonds, dried cranberries, and walnuts. Everything listed in this concoction of natural goodies sounds delicoius. I like raisins when they are not touching everything, but in this container of fun the raisins were everywhere!

Sidenote: When you put a raisin in warm milk it turns back into a grape!!
